The Maple Leaf Effect is the book you crave to make your life as an immigrant, legendary. It is for those who want to slash their transition time and fast track to living their best life in Canada.

Nalini Chariandy was born and raised in Trinidad W.I. She is an MBA CPA by day and an aspiring author by night. She also has a B.Sc. (Hons) from University of Toronto in Developmental Psychology and Sociology, as self-diagnosis is much cheaper than therapy.

In 2004, Nalini, her husband and their two small kids traded the sunny shores of Trinidad for the Canadian seasons. She has survived the “no Canadian work experience”, underemployment and no employment, freezing temperatures and her in-laws.  Despite the challenges that moving countries places on a young family, Nalini recently celebrated her 23rd wedding anniversary (with the same husband) and is happy to report that her kids are doing well at University and still speak to her.

The Maple Leaf Effect is her debut book. You can connect with Nalini at nalini@themapleleafeffect.com when she is not out walking the dog, attempting to cook or trying to change the world in a single blog.

Yes. I do have a blog. No. It is not up to date. I am quite the procrastinator! If you are feeling adventurous, check it out – I may surprise you with a post from this decade. My blog was my first venture into any form of social tech and no, I don’t know how to use TikTok or turn on my lights with Alexa. It chronicles some of the challenges, drama and thoughts of a frenzied immigrant. Enjoy the madness!
