2017 …ready or not!

No New Year’s resolution for me!

It is just one hour before midnight in Ontario, Canada and Happy New Year wishes are everywhere.  We love the freshness of a new year. It feels like we get to hit the restart button and whatever was an issue mere minutes before 12 gets swept into another realm far, far away.

As we step into 2017, remember New Year is more symbolic than a real parting of ways with the past. You can hit that restart button any morning after a bad night, on the hour after a rough meeting or any moment in the day. Often, we say we are having a bad day and we just want to get to the end of the day.  Remember we are masters of our own time, our own destiny – restart the clock whenever you want to.  If you fall off your ‘go to the gym three times a week’ resolution on Jan 10th…you can restart on Jan 15th. If you are going to make a resolution – let it be that you are kind to yourself and others.

I still remember the feeling of the first day of school – it felt new and unspoiled. Life was simple and uncomplicated by difficult exams, testy teachers and misunderstandings between friends. It was my French teacher who said to my sister and I that we could stop the clock and restart it anytime. It does not have to be a new year or a different day. It could be the next moment that you change. Hard to conceive I know, but think about it and go easy on yourself for 2017.

Every moment is a new beginning…don’t wait 364 days to get that new year feeling.

All the best from this moment on….
